Meanwhile, 3% of our high school kids test at grade level in math and reading, 70% of Millennials are living paycheck to paycheck, ⅔ of Americans can’t name any U.S. Supreme Court Justices, only ¼ of U.S. adults can name only one of the three branches of government, and 23% of Americans haven’t read a book in the last year!
Yet we deem ourselves smart enough to critique, analyze, and understand a 2,300 hundred-year-old reading steeped in meaning, tradition, nuance, and subtlety.
