Pray In God’s House To Be Forgiven

From today’s reading...

‘Listen to the entreaty of your servant and of your people Israel; whenever they pray in this place, listen from the place where you reside in heaven; and when you hear, forgive.’” 1 Kings 8:30

The Israelites lived in a time of unprecedented prosperity because of the wisdom of Solomon, and the source of his wisdom was his love of God.

Meanwhile, 3% of our high school kids test at grade level in math and reading, 70% of Millennials are living paycheck to paycheck, of Americans can’t name any U.S. Supreme Court Justices, only ¼ of U.S. adults can name only one of the three branches of government, and 23% of Americans haven’t read a book in the last year!

Yet we deem ourselves smart enough to critique, analyze, and understand a 2,300 hundred-year-old reading steeped in meaning, tradition, nuance, and subtlety.

If the wisest king to ever live found peace, solace, and guidance by spending time in the house of God, that tells me that’s a great way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
