Good & Bad. Comfort & Agony.

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | September 25, 2022

From today’s reading...

‘Abraham said, “My son, remember that during your life you had your fill of good things, just as Lazarus his fill of bad. Now he is being comforted here while you are in agony.”’” Luke 16:25

The other day I saw a San Diego news story about people going to a private airport to pick up cute beagles who had been rescued from medical labs on the East Coast.

These dogs were flown by private jet to this private airport across the country and picked up by good and decent people who cried tears of joy as they hugged one another and the dogs as they took them to their forever homes.

The only problem is these same people passed by no less than 100 or 200 or even 1,000 homeless residents, neighbors, fellow humans sleeping in cardboard boxes under the very overpasses these well-intentioned dog-lovers took to get to the dogs.

Is God happy when you treat His beagles with love and affection?

Of course, He is.

Is God happy when you step over and ignore and loop upon with disdain His homeless humans to heap love and affection on dogs?

If I were a betting man…I’d say no.

God made the first and second laws of thermodynamics.

He made karma.

He made E=MC2.

He made cause and effect, and He wants you to know that actions have consequences, so...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
