What Good Is All Our Effort?

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | September 22, 2022

From today’s reading...

What profit can we show for all our toil, toiling under the sun?” Ecclesiastes 1:3

Has there ever been a worse time in the world than now?

Before you scoff and guffaw at the question, spend 5-10 minutes scrolling social media.

Senior citizens must continue to work because they have no savings.

Middle-aged people are in their second, third, and fourth marriages and wondering why they don’t have a relationship with their children.

The 40 and 30-somethings are bemoaning their college debt and how they can’t afford a home.

The 20-somethings are whining about dating, dating apps, the hookup culture, and how hard it is to find a good man or woman today. (The 30 & 40-somethings complain about that as well.)

Teens are depressed, anxious, and on more prescription drugs than an 80-year-old smoker with lung cancer.

Eleven-year-old boys are dressed in drag and applauded by adults on national TV for twerking.

The University of Vanderbilt has a transgender clinic in Nashville that drugs, chemically castrates, and performs double mastectomies on kids as young as six years old. Amazon will pay up to $4,000 to have one of their corporate slaves fly to another state to kill their baby (and nobody recognizes it’s cheaper for Amazon to do that than pay maternity leave, yet they’re applauded as compassionate and progressive and modern and forward-looking and sensitive.)

The White House gets upset when 50 migrants are flown to Martha’s Vineyard and helps deploy the military to remove them, but less than 90 days ago, the same White House officials didn’t lift a finger when 51 migrants died of dehydration and heat exhaustion in a tractor-trailer outside San Antonio. (Follow the money.)

Now, do you see why I ask the question, “Has there ever been a worse time in the world than now?”

Not only are we toiling, but we are also manufacturing extra toil to weigh us down, to distract us, to cause us harm, discomfort, disease, and dis-ease, and we’re doing it on purpose.

We’re allowing our employers to fund it.

We’re applauding our employers for doing it.

We’re paying celebrities with our time, money, and attention to lead us astray and emulate them. We’re torturing our children out of our own shame and guilt so we can continue being the victim and be applauded for being enlightened or whatever other mumbo jumbo word salad phrases they are throwing around tomorrow.

We’re allowing, enabling, and funding elected officials to spy on us, take away our rights, fire us, and inject us with poison all because we believe the phrase, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”

Now, do you see why I ask the question, “Has there ever been a worse time in the world than now?”

The Bible is not a relic. You’re an idiot, a fool, and a pawn for believing it’s a relic.

The Church is not patriarchal and oppressive. Your government bureaucrats are.

Religion is not the opioid of the masses. Prescription drugs pushed upon us during every commercial break and touted by our bought-and-paid-for politicians are.

Bread and circus is alive and well in the form of pot, porn, and playoffs.

But to answer the question of the title of today’s post, your current efforts toward your corporate-sponsored, government-manipulated goals are good for nothing except the demise of your soul.

It’s time to get with the program. The real program. The one and only program that Qoheleth knew about over 2,200 years ago and penned to help you...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.

Now go sell something.
