Jesus Says, Simon Does

From today’s reading...

Simon replied, ‘Master, we worked hard all night long and caught nothing, but if you say so, I will pay out the nets.’” Luke 5:5

Progress and results don’t care about your feelings.

Success stems from proper actions done repeatedly until the goal is achieved.

When you want to get physically stronger, you must put in 20, 30, maybe even 49 reps to get to the point of exhaustion, which may not happen until you get to the 50th rep, where the growth occurs.

Jesus knows this little fact about growing physically, emotionally, and spiritually, which is why I give thanks that He is patient.

He knows we are weak and prone to taking shortcuts—if not just giving up.

Which is why He gave Simon a sign.

To sustain him.

To confirm Simon’s suspicions.

And to Simon’s credit, he listened, which is what we must do if we are to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
