Eat The Word of God

Written by Wes Schaeffer | August 9, 2022

From today’s reading...

I opened my mouth; he gave me the scroll to eat…” Ezekiel 3:2

In math, we know that if A = B and B= C, then A = C. In the Gospel of John, the author opens with, “In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God.” John 1:1

If the Word is God, then Ezekiel consuming the Word of God means he was consuming God, and in doing so, he gained insight and wisdom through the grace of God passed on through the Holy Spirit, although it will be about 600 years before we see a dove land on Jesus and tongues of fire over the heads of the apostles.

Receiving God’s grace through consuming Him is why Jesus gave us His body and told us to meet daily for His bread.

Jesus did not instruct us to have a “private and personal” relationship with Him.

He told us to gather, to eat His body, drink His blood, to do so daily, and do so “worthily,” or be “answerable for the body and blood of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 11:27a).

Ezekiel was worthy, and his words have guided us for nearly 2,800 years, so follow his example.

Approach the Lord and consume Him daily and worthily, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
