The Saints Work For You

Written by Wes Schaeffer | August 6, 2022

From today’s reading...

And suddenly there were two men talking to him; they were Moses and Elijah appearing in glory, and they were speaking of his passing which he was to accomplish in Jerusalem.” Luke 9:30-31

Around 2004, I was talking with some passionate Protestant friends who were challenging me on why Catholics prayed to Mary and the saints.

Her reason for not praying to them was that they were dead.

But I asked her, “Do you pray to your deceased relatives? Why do you think they are cut off from us just because their human bodies are no longer with us?”

Today’s Gospel reading clearly shows that the saints who are with God are able to pray for us and intercede on our behalf.

So if you have a patron saint or a family member who has gone to be with the Lord and you feel moved to pray to them to ask for their assistance in troubling times, go right ahead because God created them to help us all...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
