You Are Chosen

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | August 28, 2017

From today’s reading...

We give thanks to God always for all of you,...
unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love
and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ,
knowing,...how you were chosen.”

To win the Masters golf tournament you must first win a 4-day, 72-hole tournament to be eligible to compete in their 4-day, 72-hole tournament.

To become a surgeon requires a four year degree, four years of medical school, then 3-10 years of residency and fellowships.

Of the 40,000 new recruits to the Navy each year, only 6% of them meet the requirements to even apply to BUD/S to become a SEAL. Then only 15-20% of the 1,000 that enter BUD/S actually make it to become a SEAL.

In other words, anything worth doing takes time, energy, and endurance.

Living a meaningful, faith-filled, hopeful life is worth doing, which is why it takes time, energy, and endurance.

It also helps to have a support team.

It’s why golfers in the Masters have a caddy.
It’s why surgeons have anesthesiologists and nurses.
It’s why Navy SEALs have swim buddies.
It’s why Jesus sent them off in pairs.

For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Know that you are chosen. Know that you are not alone as you...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
