About The Coming of Jesus

Written by Wes Schaeffer | August 23, 2022

From today’s reading...

About the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers, and our being gathered to him: please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or any statement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived.” 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2

Several times a year, we hear about some mega lottery, and it’s in all the news, and people ask, “What would you do with a quadrillion dollars?” and other such nonsense.

However, despite the odds being hundreds of millions to one, someone does eventually guess the winning number.

Yet, 2,000 years after the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, no one has guessed the date of His return.

Some would argue that He is a fictional character or just a well-known prophet, so of course, He won’t return.

But if you are a believer, know that those making noise about “the end is near” are right.

And they are wrong. You and I have 5 to 55 years, give or take, before the end of our physical lives arrives, so the end is, indeed, near. But to God, “A thousand years are to you like a yesterday which has passed, like a watch of the night” (Psalm 90:4)

So don’t try to guess and pay no mind to those who do. Know that Jesus is retiring in His own time, so...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
