You’ll Pay When You Do It Your Way

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | August 21, 2017

From today’s reading...

He allowed them to fall into the power of their enemies round about whom they were no longer able to withstand.”

My Ford Excursion has a big diesel engine that can just about pull a house off its foundation.

In the owner’s manual and right on the gas gauge it says “Diesel Fuel Only.”

If I want to get the best performance and longevity out of my Excursion I should follow the instructions of Ford, which is “Thou shall not put unleaded gas in the tank!”

Ford has given me clear instructions on how to best care for my vehicle, but they are not following me around and forcing me to only use diesel.

They’ve provided clear instructions and I’m free to do as I please with my truck.

(Funny thing, that whole free will thing, isn’t it?)

Ever heard the phrase “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”?

This weekend my son showed me a video from Reddit of a guy who decided to play the stupid game of jumping over a backyard bonfire. He landed on some boards on the edge and fell backwards into the raging fire.

His stupid prize is a trip to the emergency room, skin grafts, and a lifetime of scars.

AAA, your friends, and God will do their best to pull you out of the fire and save you from yourself when you play stupid games...but only to a point.

AAA only gives you three free tows per year with your membership.
Your friends will just stop hanging out with you.
And God will love you forever...but He’ll still allow you to jump into bonfires until you die or catch a clue.

In this journey of life, you’ll go farther if you follow the instructions in the owner’s manual and realize they were not created to limit you but to extend your range and even your comfort.

Following those instructions will help you...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
