Engage The Wrongdoers

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | August 11, 2021

From today’s reading...

‘If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: whatever the misdemeanour, the evidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain the charge. But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to the community, treat him like a gentile or a tax collector.’” Matthew 18:15-17

I love watching the “JUDGE NOT, LEST YEE BE JUDGED!” crowd reconcile this passage (and Luke 17:3-4) with their not-so-secret desire to do whatever the hell it is they want.

We are to look out for one another.

We are to keep one another accountable.

We are to engage with one another when we notice they are messing up.

We are not to judge one another.

We are not to condemn one another.

We are not to enable nor encourage one another in sinning.

We are to distance ourselves from those who do not want to be held accountable.

We are to distance ourselves from those who do not earnestly desire to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
