Brother Will Betray Brother

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | July 9, 2021

From today’s reading...

‘Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against their parents and have them put to death.’”
Matthew 10:21

What a lovely, inspiring, motivational, uplifting speech, huh?

I guess Jesus wasn’t a big fan of today’s prosperity gospel, i.e., “You’re coming into a life of abundance…Your greatest days are ahead…You’re gonna be thin, rich, happy, and healthy…as soon as you sign this big pledge card…and buy my book…and my DVD series. Amen…and God Bless Youuuuuuuuuuu!”

Why the difference in the message?

Jesus wasn’t—and isn’t—looking for suckers, suck-ups, and sycophants.

He’s looking for those looking for Him.

He’s searching for those searching for the Truth.

He’s looking for the few, the proud, the Christians.

The sad part of His revelation from 2,000 years ago is that we see it still happening today.

While it’s easy to look back in time and “over there,” i.e., German Nazis or Russian Communists in the 40s, the reality is families are divided and turning on one another right now due to how COVID was thrust upon us by power-hungry government officials, incompetent bureaucrats, greedy pharmaceutical companies, and their willing accomplices in the media and universities.

So we’re forced to choose from three Gospel messages today:

  1. The empowering, sobering, Truth.
  2. The saccharine half-truth.
  3. The omnipresent lie.

Allow The One to encourage you to choose #1 because it’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
