From today’s reading...
Then he had a dream: a stairway rested on the ground,
with its top reaching to the heavens;
and God's messengers were going up and down on it.”
Jacob is on the road, sent away from his father and mother because he deceived his father, with his mother's help.
Isaac sent him away to the land of his grandfather on Jacob's mother's side and it is while he is on that journey that he has this dream and receives a message from God.
The message reassures Jacob of several things.
- God is with him.
- He will have many descendants.
- The land he is on is sacred.
- The world will receive blessings through his people.
Keep in mind this is happening right after Jacob tricked his own father.
Does that mean we are blessed when we lie and dishonor our parents?
Of course not.
It means God is willing and able to get to work on fixing what you broke immediately. You just have to be open to receiving His grace...and His corrective actions, because only by accepting God's guidance can you...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
