Sacrifice The Unblemished Male

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | July 16, 2021

From today’s reading...

Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, ‘This month must be the first of all the months for you, the first month of your year. Speak to the whole community of Israel and say, “On the tenth day of this month each man must take an animal from the flock for his family: one animal for each household. If the household is too small for the animal, he must join with his neighbour nearest to his house, depending on the number of persons. When you choose the animal, you will take into account what each can eat. It must be an animal without blemish, a male one year old; you may choose it either from the sheep or from the goats.”’” Exodus 12:1-5

Despite Moses living 3,500 years ago and his story in Exodus being written 2,600 years ago, we are still talking about him. Not impressed?

The average American doesn’t know who was president of the United States when they were born, and they can’t tell you why Dec 7, 1941, will live in infamy—nor which president said it—but they can tell you who’s #1 on the music charts and what some ex-princess had for dinner, but I digress.)

Moses had a specific purpose and calling, and God gave him specific instructions to pass on to the Israelites to ensure the offerings—the sacrifices—they made were appropriate and correct because to have success in life tomorrow, you must make the proper sacrifices today.

And when you’re making a sacrifice as part of your penance for the sins you have committed, that sacrifice requires death, but not just any death, the death of an unblemished one, a son. In other words, a perfect son.

As we see throughout the Bible, the Old Testament foretells the New Testament, and Jesus completes the Old Testament, and we’re still reading and discussing these stories millennia later, which means these stories have meaning, and finding how that meaning can save your life is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
