The parents meanwhile had gone out and shut the door behind them. Tobias rose from the bed, and said to Sarah, ‘Get up, my sister! You and I must pray and petition our Lord to win his grace and his protection.’” Tobit 8:4
We’ve been reading from Tobit this week, a book that many Protestants have never heard of or read, but we’ve all read the story from yesterday’s Gospel, Mark 12, in which Jesus stumps the Sadducees who were trying to trap him with the story of the woman who had seven husbands, all brothers, who all died on their wedding night.
Today we read how Tobias, the son of Tobit, with the help of Raphael the Archangel, successfully defeated the demon that had tormented Sarah and killed her seven husbands.
The good news for you and me is that we have the same blessings and power that Tobias and Sarah had to fight off our demons, so get up and pray to God, which is the only way to...
