Stay Humble and Love

From today’s reading...

When the kid came into my house, it began to bleat. I called to my wife and said, ‘Where does this creature come from? Suppose it has been stolen! Let the owners have it back; we have no right to eat stolen goods’.” Tobit 2:13

My initial reaction to today’s reading was that Tobit was being a bit self-righteous in his accusations, but Tobit had experienced significant difficulties, including losing his sight (due to bird poop, of all things), financial struggles, and unjust accusations.

So it’s understandable that he might have been a bit on edge when he heard the goat.

Being a righteous, devote, pious man under attack, his intention was probably to ensure that he gave his enemies nothing to hold over him but also to do nothing to offend God, so he wanted to be sure that everything in their household was obtained lawfully and in accordance with their commitment to righteousness.

So be like Tobit in seeking to always do the right thing, regardless of your hardships, but cut your spouse some slack, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
