From today’s reading...
‘Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this is how they persecuted the prophets before you.’” Matthew 5:12
In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us what we now know as the Beatitudes.
He concludes today’s Gospel reading with a reminder that the great prophets who came before us were persecuted on earth, but, as a result of them standing strong and staying true to the Truth, they shall receive great blessings in the form of eternity in heaven.
In a way, He is saying, “Tough times don’t last, but people tough and strong in the faith, will last forever in paradise.”

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
Now go sell something.
