Be Strong, Silent, and Smile

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | June 16, 2021

From today’s reading...

‘When you are fasting, do not put on a gloomy look as the hypocrites do: they go about looking unsightly to let people know they are fasting. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward. But when you fast, put scent on your head and wash your face, so that no one will know you are fasting except your Father who sees all that is done in secret; and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.’” Matthew 6:16-18

In other words, be the strong silent type.

You can feed the homeless without live-streaming it.

You can go to the gym without checking in on Instagram.

You can pray without telling the world how good and pious and righteous you are.

You can—and should—be the same when the cameras are on or off. (Maybe someone could remind the “leaders” at this week’s G7 summit of this point…but I digress.)

Be a “Steady Eddie” in your prayer life. It’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
