From today’s reading...
He has given us the competence to be ministers of a new covenant, a covenant which is not of written letters, but of the Spirit; for the written letters kill, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:6
Many proclaim, “See, ‘the written letters kill,’ which means you can’t ‘work your way into heaven!’”
Ugh.
They are right but for the wrong reason, but because this gives “sola fida” followers the excuse to be lazy since they believe, “once saved, always saved,” they ignore today’s Gospel from Matthew 5:17-19 and James 2:14-26.
The Spirit has given you life so you can do the Lord’s work, i.e., “You see now that it is by deeds, and not only by believing, that someone is justified” (James 2:24) and “As a body without a spirit is dead, so is faith without deeds” (James 2:26)
Prove you have life in the Spirit by being a minister of the New Covenant, which is the only way to...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
