So if we have hardships to undergo, this will contribute to your encouragement and your salvation; if we receive encouragement, this is to gain for you the encouragement which enables you to bear with perseverance the same sufferings as we do.” 2 Corinthians 1:6
To walk with Christ, to walk in His footsteps, to follow Him, is similar to marriage in that you must do so in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us the beatitudes, which include, “‘Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account’” (Matthew 5:11).
The quality of your work, your efforts, and its impact will be judged by the enemies you make because milk-toast wallflowers who go along to get along never make progress, just excuses.
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
