Earn Your Keep. Pull Your Weight.

Written by Wes Schaeffer | June 1, 2022

From today’s reading...

‘I have never asked anyone for money or clothes; you know for yourselves that these hands of mine earned enough to meet my needs and those of my companions.’” Acts 20:33-34

Paul is on his way to Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost and stops in Miletus but sends for the elders of the church of Ephesus to give them some encouraging news, and some somber news.

The sad news is they know this is the last time they will see him.

Paul knew his calling and fate, and he took it on willingly and proudly.

As part of that calling, he knew he was an encourager.

A deliverer of hope. A speaker of Good News.

To help put a spring the steps of his fellow followers of “The Way,” he did all he could to lighten their loads by pulling his weight.

He didn’t show up and expect to be waited on hand and foot.

No.

He did all he could with what he had wherever the Holy Spirit guided him.

Be like Paul.

It’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
