Give Generously To The Lord

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | May 30, 2023

From today’s reading...

Do not appear empty-handed in the Lord’s presence; for all these things are due under the commandment.” Sirach 35:4

Today is all about sacrifice. What will you give to God today that He may give back to you “a hundred times as much” (Mark 10:30a)?

“But Wes, I’ve worked hard for what I have. If God made everything, why does He need me to give anything back?”

You’re right.

He doesn’t “need” anything from you, but He wants to shower blessings upon you that you may only receive if you let go.

To understand this concept, research the monkey trap.

Trappers place a piece of fruit inside a cage or a hollowed-out gourd with a hole just large enough for the monkey to slide its hand in but not large enough to allow it to pull its fist out while clinging onto the “prize.”

As a result, the instinct that has kept it alive, i.e., grab good food when you find it, becomes what traps and kills it.

What is holding you down?

For many, it is food.

For many others, it is pot, porn, and playoffs.

For others, still, it is money.

Whatever you may be clinging onto, give it to God, and see how He blesses you for your generosity because being generous with God is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
