How To Live Long and Prosper

From today’s reading...

‘Keep his laws and commandments as I give them to you today, so that you and your children after you may prosper and live long in the country that Yahweh your God is giving you for ever.’” Deuteronomy 4:40

 In Exodus 4, we see Moses begging the Lord to spare him from speaking to the Pharaoh since Moses thought, “I have never been eloquent,…for I am slow and hesitant of speech.”

Today, we see Moses speaking non-stop for the first four chapters of Deuteronomy. Heck, the entire book is essentially Moses speaking non-stop as he gives the Israelites “the second law,” or “the retelling/reinforcement of the law.”

Moses knows that he will not set foot in the Promised Land because he doubted God, but being a great leader, he led his people to the threshold and encouraged them to continue on their journey with and to God. In other words, Moses tells his people to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
