Occam’s Razor, also known as the principle of parsimony, is a problem-solving and reasoning principle attributed to the medieval philosopher and theologian William of Ockham.
It states that among competing hypotheses or explanations, the simplest one is usually the best or most likely.
The essence of Occam’s Razor is to favor simpler explanations or models over more complex ones when both can account for the available evidence equally well.
In other words, if multiple explanations can explain a phenomenon, the one with the fewest assumptions or entities is often preferred.
How does this apply to today’s reading?
Easy.
The Bible is “balanced,” for lack of a better term.
The New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament, and the OT is revealed in the NT.
We see that balance in how God started the world and then saved the world.
He started with a perfect man and woman who fell due to their consumption of food from a tree that they were to avoid.
Then He used another perfect man and woman to give us a perfect food, which we are to consume daily, as we approach and embrace the welcoming tree of the cross.
Jesus is the new Adam.
Mary is the new Eve.
His cross is the tree.
His body is the fruit.
