How Do You Handle Disputes?

Written by Wes Schaeffer | May 25, 2023

From today’s reading...

As soon as he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was split between the two parties.” Acts 23:7

Our nation has a system of checks and balances.

Your company has an HR and a legal department.

Your HOA has a design committee and a board of directors. Your kid’s school has a chain of command from a substitute to the principal to the superintendent to the school board.

What is your church’s leadership structure?

Within eight years of posting his Ninety-Five Theses, Martin Luther documented his frustration and even his regret at how his actions led to even more splintering and disputes.

But you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.

The sad/ironic/interesting thing is that Luther had many valid points, which the Catholic Church addressed and implemented by the time they convened the Council of Trent in 1545, a year before his death, but due to his own pride and vanity, he died as an excommunicated monk who became the catalyst for thousands of more disputes than we see in Acts 23 today.

Your actions have consequences.

Look before you leap, especially in proclaiming matters of faith, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
