Seek The One Who Is Far But Close

Written by Wes Schaeffer | May 20, 2020

From today’s reading...

...so that people might seek God,
even perhaps grope for him and find him,
though indeed he is not far from any one of us.” Acts 17:27

How often do we hear of the “acres of diamonds” stories where someone goes out on an epic adventure to “find himself” only to come to the realization that all the joy, peace, happiness, contentment, and fulfillment was in him all along and was accessible whether he was in an apartment in the city, riding a tractor on the farm, or on a tropical island in the South Pacific?

But finding, knowing, and understanding ourselves is the toughest challenge of all, which is why so few of us even start, let alone succeed.

Knowing God is like that. On the one hand, how can we truly know the Creator of the universe; the Creator of creation? On the other hand, God is love, so if you love you know God.

And since we are made in God’s image, i.e “our image,” we come to see a glimmer of God in the marital embrace, in service to community, and in prayer, all of which are not far from any one of us.

But in order to find you must seek, so...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
