The God of Israel Gives Strength and Power

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | May 19, 2021

From today’s reading...

Awesome is God in his sanctuary. He, the God of Israel, gives strength and power to his people. Blessed be God.” Psalm 68:35

Psalm 68 was written around 2,800 years ago, give or take a couple of centuries. How long ago are 2,800 years?

Well, to put that into perspective,

  • 2,800 minutes ago, it was Monday.
  • 2,800 hours ago, it was January 23.
  • 2,800 days ago, it was September 18, 2013.
  • 2,800 weeks ago—September 20, 1967—my parents were a year from being married, and I wouldn’t be born for another 2.5 years—April 3, 1970.
  • 2,800 months ago—May 25, 1791—the Bill of Rights had not been ratified (December 15, 1791).

But what we read in the Psalms today was spoken, taught, and shared for generations before it was written, which means God chose Israel before the wheel was invented, and His blessings spilled out from there to you and me.

Knowing this—and acting accordingly—is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
