The City of God Is United

Written by Wes Schaeffer | May 18, 2022

From today’s reading...

Jerusalem, built as a city, in one united whole, there the tribes go up, the tribes of Yahweh, a sign for Israel to give thanks to the name of Yahweh. For there are set the thrones of judgement, the thrones of the house of David.” Psalm 122:3-5

Imagine if NYC, LA, Dallas, London, Paris, Rome, Moscow, Tokyo, Berlin, and Cape Town were one city. Back in the day, that’s how the Israelites viewed Jerusalem.

It was, and remains, the city that is most central to their faith.

So when David writes that Jerusalem is “one united whole,” he’s talking about not only the members of the Jewish faith, but God is using David to foretell His plan for the world.

We have one God who has one Son who taught us one faith and who created one, holy, apostolic church to teach that faith to the entire world, so we can all...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
