From today’s reading...
So Jesus said: When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am He and that I do nothing of my own accord. What I say is what the Father has taught me;” John 8:28
In Numbers 21 today, we read about Moses lifting up the staff made like a serpent to heal the people bitten by the serpents sent by God when they spoke against Him.
In other words, they were healed by looking up and coming face to face with what they feared.
Jesus tells them the same thing will happen to Himself and through Himself.
It’s a double entendre. Jesus will be lifted up on the cross, but He will also be lifted up in the breaking of the bread, and we will see Him in His fullness, and we will know that He is of His Father.
Seeing Jesus like this is the only way to...
