From today’s reading...
Till this moment they had still not understood the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.” John 20:9
Today’s Gospel reading ends with this verse.
None of even the closest followers of Jesus understood His true mission and purpose until now. (Heck, they probably didn’t even truly know until Pentecost, but I digress.)
Yet they were still afraid.
We read later in John 20 that the disciples had locked themselves in the upper room because they were afraid of the Jews.
So they knew Jesus and finally understood that He must rise from the dead, but they didn’t understand what was next, both for Him and for them.
But now we know. Hindsight is 20/20. We know why Jesus came, suffered, died, and rose.
And knowing that should be enough to inspire you to...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
Now go sell something.
