Repent or be Judged by Nineveh

Written by Wes Schaeffer | March 9, 2022

From today’s reading...

‘On Judgement Day the men of Nineveh will appear against this generation and be its condemnation, because when Jonah preached they repented; and, look, there is something greater than Jonah here.’” Luke 11:32

The people of Nineveh, including the king, “believed in God” (Jonah 3:5).

When Jonah delivered God’s message about their pending destruction, they fasted, put on sackcloth, sat in ashes, and renounced their “evil ways and violent behaviour” (Jonah 3:8).

As a result, God saved them from destruction because salvation is a two-way street.

God gives us Himself, and we must accept Him and give ourselves to Him in return in the form of obedience and right actions.

Jesus walked among the people of His day and performed great deeds, spoke powerful words, and gave clear instructions on what was expected of them, but it was never enough for those with stiff necks, hardheads, and harder hearts.

Listen to Jonah. Repent, fast, and listen to Jesus, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
