How To Live and Grow Numerous

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | March 3, 2022

From today’s reading...

‘If you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, if you love Yahweh your God and follow his ways, if you keep his commandments, his laws and his customs, you will live and grow numerous, and Yahweh your God will bless you in the country which you are about to enter and make your own.’” Deuteronomy 30:16

The Israelites said they wanted to be free.

They said they wanted to be prosperous.

They said they wanted to live in God’s favor.

So God used Moses to tell them how to have all that.

It turned out they didn’t really want all of that.

At least, they weren’t willing to do what it took to have all that.

Today, we see the same thing with people who say they want to be healthy and fit but opt for pills and surgeries rather than change their lifestyles and diets.

Our fallen nature makes us a short-cut-seeking people.

Moses didn’t take a shortcut through the desert.

Jesus didn’t take a shortcut to Calvary.

There are no shortcuts for you and me, either.

Well, actually, there is.

But you won’t like where that shortcut takes you.

So...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
