From today’s reading...
‘Then Abraham said to him, “If they will not listen either to Moses or to the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone should rise from the dead.”’” Luke 16:31
As usual, there are many layers to the stories and parables Jesus shares, and today’s story about Lazarus and the rich man is no different.
First, we see Jesus confirm heaven.
We also see Him confirm that those who have died and gone to heaven can see us, and they are supporting us, i.e., “With so many witnesses in a great cloud all around us,…” (Hebrews 12:1).
Additionally, we learn that it is in our best interests to provide for those less fortunate than us.
