Observe The Laws and Customs

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | March 15, 2023

From today’s reading...

‘And now, Israel, listen to the laws and customs which I am teaching you today, so that, by observing them, you may survive to enter and take possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, is giving you.’” Deuteronomy 4:1

You cannot supplant The Truth with your truth.

Your truth is a fad.

It’s fickle.

It’s fleeting.

It’s fun and concise.

It fits well within the confines of a TikTok or a Twitter thread.

You have no roots.

You have built your house of cards on sand.

You think you’re “flexible” and “open-minded,” when in reality, you’re a compass with no needle; a soul with no morals, i.e., a plaything for the devil; a pawn he uses to further his cause only to be discarded like a cigarette butt when he’s done with you.

You’re not unique or enlightened in your rush to trash the very laws and customs that have created the wealth and privilege, safety, and comfort of your current pleasant lifestyle.

All children, hedonists, and the slothful have done the same since Cain slew Abel.

No.

In doing so, you are actually holding onto the laws and customs of the fallen; the anarchists; the know-it-alls; the vain; the prideful.

And we know that “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).

Set aside your pride.

Stick to the laws and the customs, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
