Carry Your Own Weight

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | March 15, 2022

From today’s reading...

‘They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on people's shoulders, but will they lift a finger to move them? Not they!’” Matthew 23:4

Jesus is talking about the scribes and the Pharisees today, but you know who those people are.

  • The guy at the office who drinks the last cup of coffee and doesn’t make another pot.
  • The boss who has everyone stay late at work while she leaves for her kid’s game.
  • Politicians who vote raises for themselves while handing out $1,200 to their constituents as bribes.
  • Governors and mayors who make children wear masks eight hours a day while they attend lavish sporting events with no masks.
  • Representatives who make their constituents wear masks, social distance, and show proof of vaccination while they fly to a free state to sit in the sun and dine lavishly and without restrictions.
  • Pastors who tell you to “dig deep” and “give until it hurts” so they can buy another Ferrari, mansion, and private jet.

Don’t be those people.

Pull your own weight, plus another pound from your neighbor.

It’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
