The Wise Take Correction

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | March 11, 2021

From today’s reading...

Then you are to say to them, ‘This is the nation that will neither listen to the voice of Yahweh its God nor take correction. Sincerity is no more, it has vanished from their mouths.’” Jeremiah 7:28

We don’t listen.

We have to touch the stove to see if it’s hot.

To see if the paint is still wet.

To see if the dog really will bite.

It’s what curious, independent, hard-headed children do.

It’s bittersweet.

A loving father wants his children to be strong and courageous.

To be willing to investigate the great unknown.

To sail over the horizon.

But he also wants them to learn from his own experiences and pain, suffering, and loss.

Alas, it is not to be.

We will wander.

We will question.

We will doubt.

We will convince ourselves that this time it’s different.

That we are different.

That we know better.

That these times they are a-changin’.

So we must lick the frozen flag pole for ourselves.

God understands our reluctance to listen to Him and follow His advice.

But we must adapt, repent, and change when we get hit in the face with the brutal consequences of our missteps, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
