Go Be Alone

Written by Wes Schaeffer | February 4, 2023

From today’s reading...

So they went off in the boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves.” Mark 6:32

As I searched for an appropriate image for today’s post I entered words such as alone and solitude.

The results were images of sad, downtrodden people.

Dark images.

Lots of black-and-white images.

Sullen.

And I get it since we know that “It is not right that the man should be alone. I shall make him a helper.” (Genesis 2:18)

But we know that many inspirational people in the Bible who were called to greatness, spent time alone to prepare.

John the Baptist spent a lot of time in the desert wilderness.

Moses ascended Mt. Sinai as many as eight times to be with the Lord, remaining there a few days to a week to “forty days and forty nights, eating and drinking nothing.” (Exodus 34:28)

And of course, we know Jesus was tempted in the desert for 40 days as He began His public ministry.

It’s only good for Meta and Microsoft and the Chinese Communist Party for you to be always on, always connected, always looking for a fight.

Allow yourself to have some downtime, some peace and quiet, some solitude with God, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
