From today’s reading...
‘…and that Yahweh may fulfil the promise which he made me, “If your sons are careful how they behave, and walk loyally before me with all their heart and soul, you will never want for a man on the throne of Israel.”’” 1 Kings 2:4
This is David’s advice to his son, Solomon, “As David’s life drew to its close…” (v1).
David didn’t always follow the advice he passed down to his son, and he paid the price for it, which makes it all the more valuable.
Despite David’s flaws, God saw enough good in him to bless him with a son, Solomon, and through his lineage, God’s own Son, Jesus, who has remained on the throne as God promised.
God has made the same promise to you, so be careful how you behave.
Give your entire heart and soul to God as you walk loyally before Him, which is the only way to...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
Now go sell something.
