Save Another, Save Yourself

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | February 26, 2022

From today’s reading...

My brothers, if one of you strays away from the truth, and another brings him back to it, he may be sure that anyone who can bring back a sinner from his erring ways will be saving his soul from death and covering over many a sin.” James 5:19-20

While this is good news, it can be a stumbling block for the self-righteous, the vain, and the overly-pious because you might be tempted to “be on the lookout” for “strays” while ignoring your own wandering ways, i.e., you’re staring at the splinter in your brother’s eye while ignoring the beam in yours (Matthew 7:5).

So, by all means, help those in need.

Be on the lookout for those who are struggling and straying, but focus on yourself first.

Make sure you are monitoring your own check engine light as well as your fuel and temperature gauges as you scan the horizon for fellow travelers in need, else you yourself become one in need of rescue.

This is how you...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
