It's Because of Your Hard Heart

Written by Wes Schaeffer | February 25, 2022

From today’s reading...

Then Jesus said to them, ‘It was because you were so hard hearted that he wrote this commandment for you.’” Mark 10:5

Those in power will do what they can to hold onto that power, and only the enlightened few will see the tricks for what they are and do what it takes to stop them.

The Pharisees once again attempted to test Jesus, and once again, He stumped them, and once again (in verses 10-12), Jesus explains His teachings to His confused Apostles.

If you’re like most people, you’re “bad with names.”

You’ve convinced yourself that you are bad with names, and, voila, you are bad with names.

But you’re wrong.

You’re not bad with names.

You’re bad at listening.

By amping yourself up, when you enter a social setting, you fill your every thought with, “I’m bad with names. I’m going to look like a fool. I’ll forget the name of every person I meet.”

With your head full of negative thoughts and self-doubt, you don’t hear the person’s name as they are introduced to you.

It’s literally in one ear and out the other.

That’s why you’re called “hard-headed.”

The same is true of your heart.

You must let the Word of God enter, stay, and do its thing to soften your heart, so you are not like the Israelites who forced Moses to make compromises or the Pharisees who only cared about their public power and seats of honor.

Open your minds and your hearts to God, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
