Eat With The Outcast

Written by Wes Schaeffer | February 20, 2021

From today’s reading...

In his honour Levi held a great reception in his house, and with them at table was a large gathering of tax collectors and others. The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?’” Luke 5:29-30

The so-called religious leaders of the day were judgmental, vain, and selfish just like our so-called political leaders like Cuomo who sends the elderly to their deaths in nursing homes and writes a book about how glorious he is as the pandemic rages and Ted Cruz who hops a flight to Cancun while his constituents, a.k.a. his hurting, less-affluent neighbors, suffered during this week’s terrible winter storm.

You can’t judge a book by its cover.

If society calls someone “cool” or “noteworthy,” it’s wise to look a little deeper into that person’s life to confirm if they are worthy of your time, attention, adulation, and emulation.

Chances are high they are not.

Get your hands dirty. Shun the spotlight. Heal the sick. It’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
