From today’s reading...

But someone may say: So you have faith and I have good deeds? Show me this faith of yours without deeds, then! It is by my deeds that I will show you my faith.” James 2:18

For centuries there has been a tiff between Catholics and Protestants about faith and works. Protestants accuse Catholics of believing you can “work your way into heaven,” primarily because Catholics read James and understand and follow his advice.

Protestants confuse/conflate works of the Law found in the Old Testament, i.e., how you clean your hands and bowls before you eat, with obedience to God, i.e., doing His Will, i.e., living out  our faith as James tells us to do.

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
