Is Your Faith Pointless?

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | February 13, 2022

From today’s reading...

For, if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is pointless and you have not, after all, been released from your sins.” 1 Corinthians 15:16-17

Paul doesn’t mix words.

While he never met Jesus, he lived in the same area at the same time Jesus lived.

He persecuted those who were members of “The Way.”

He gave up his former comfortable, powerful life—and even his name—to become Paul, a fellow persecuted member of The Way.

Maybe he was gullible.

Maybe he had the wool pulled over his eyes after he had the scales fall from them.

Maybe this whole Jesus story is just a myth.

Maybe Jesus was just luring everyone into a network marketing pyramid scheme.

If so, why does Paul write so clearly today? He’s backing himself into a corner with what he writes today.

There is no wiggle room.

There’s no middle ground. (He’s not “holding his breath” or holding his mask in his left hand as he takes photos with celebrities in direct violation of the policies he has forced upon his people for two years…but I digress.)

Paul gave up his way of life and eventually his life for his belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Son of Man, “as the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep.” (v20b.)

I’m going to believe Paul and walk in his footsteps, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
