From today’s reading...
Yahweh was angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from Yahweh, God of Israel, who had twice appeared to him and had forbidden him to follow other gods; but he did not carry out Yahweh's order.” 1 Kings 11:9-10
Solomon was wise, but he was not perfect, which led not to his suffering, but his son’s and future Israelites.
Actions have consequences.
- “Oh, it’s just one more beer. What can it hurt?”
- “Oh, we’re just texting. What can it hurt?”
- “Oh, I just skipped church one Sunday. What can it hurt?”
- “Oh, it’s just two weeks to flatten the curve. How bad can it get? Besides, if it saves just one life….”
You eat an elephant one bite at a time.
You lose your soul one sin at a time, and 1,000 of your heirs for 100 generations will pay the price, so...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
