The Son of God Comes Through A Sinner

Written by Wes Schaeffer | December 18, 2022

From today’s reading...

This is the gospel concerning his Son who, in terms of human nature was born a descendant of David….” Romans 1:3-4a

Isaiah 7:14b tells us, “the young woman is with child and will give birth to a son whom she will call Immanuel.”

Yesterday and today, we read from the first chapter of Matthew, which opens with the genealogy of Jesus all the way back to Abraham, and continues today with detailing the virgin conception of Jesus and how Joseph was called to remain by her side, protect her, and help raise the Son of God.

Today, Paul reinforces the human nature of Jesus and His lineage back to King David, the fornicating, conspiring murderer.

If “the patriarchy” wants to hide or obfuscate the lineage of Jesus, why do they open the first Gospel with it, and why, the very next day, do they double down on it with the opening of Paul’s letter to the Romans?

The fact is, we can’t comprehend the mind of God.

His ways are mysterious.

His powers are unlimited.

He allowed His only Son to be born of a lineage of sinful humans because we’re all sinners.

God allowed His only Son to then be attacked by the same humans and  killed by them.

It’s all part of His plan.

All we must do is trust the plan, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
