We Are Not Worthy

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | November 29, 2021

From today’s reading...

The centurion replied, 'Sir, I am not worthy to have you under my roof; just give the word and my servant will be cured.’” Matthew 8:8

Sound familiar?

Catholics say a modified version of this as the priest holds up the Body and Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. (The modified version is, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.”)

The centurion was a wise, humble man.

He knew his place.

He knew the power of Jesus.

He understood what it meant to lead and to follow.

He knew what it meant to speak worlds into existence.

He knew that the right words from the right person at the right time could lead to life or to death.

We can learn a lot from this centurion. Emulating him is an excellent way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
