From today’s reading...
At the top of his voice he shouted, ‘Babylon has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen, and has become the haunt of devils and a lodging for every foul spirit and dirty, loathsome bird.’” Revelation 18:2
In Luke 21 today, Jesus tells of the fall of Jerusalem, which has a lot of similarities to what John foretold today in Revelation.
When great cities become too proud, they fall, which wouldn’t be so terrible if it didn’t mean that the residents of those cities also suffer and fall because, after all, it is humans who comprise the cities, and it is arrogant, haughty, vain citizens who bring about the ruin of their cities and themselves.
Listen to Jesus. Listen to John. Listen to God. This is the only way to...
