Draw Your Family Away Like Mattathias

Written by Wes Schaeffer | November 19, 2021

From today’s reading...

The king’s commissioners who were enforcing the apostasy came to the town of Modein for the sacrifices. Many Israelites gathered round them, but Mattathias and his sons drew apart.” 1 Maccabees 2:15-16

How might this read today?

  • “The abortionists for Planned Parenthood came to town…”
  • “The vaccine enforcers from the CDC came to town…”
  • “The F-bomb dropping, half-naked singer came to town…”
  • “The mostly peaceful protestors came to town…” (They might need to be met with greater force, but I digress.)
  • “The drag queen story hour readers from City Hall came to the library…”
  • “The baby mama beating football players came to town…”

Get the picture?

Who gets your time, money, and attention says all I need to know about you, but I don’t really matter.

However, your spouse and your children know all they need to know about you as well, based on who gets your time, money, and attention.

So does God.

Sit with that for a moment, and let it help you get your priorities straight and live more like Mattathias, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
