Round the throne in a circle were twenty-four thrones, and on them twenty-four elders sitting, dressed in white robes with golden crowns on their heads.” Revelation 4:4
Today we read of the power of kings in Revelation 4, Psalm 150, and Luke 19.
When all of those chapters were written, the readers knew that kings had unlimited power, which included the power to determine who lived and who died.
So “the One” (v2), who is surrounded and worshipped by 24 elders with crowns of their own, is literally the King of Kings.
He is so powerful, so glorious, so perfect that the 24 “day and night…never stopped singing: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty; who was, and is and is to come” (v8b).
