From today’s reading...

We have a lot of First World problems.
You can tell how cushy and catered our lives are by the plethora of “Now is the time! The end times are here! The rapture is near! Read Daniel, read Revelation, read (insert favorite verse)! You’re all gonna DIEEEEEEEEEEE!!! (But not me. I’m just telling you this to be nice. Because I’m saved, don’t ya know?)”
What prompts such dire claims from these well-connected self-proclaimed profits? Big, important things like:
- Ben & Jerry’s ran out of mint chocolate chip.
- They broke a nail on the way to that $10,000 per plate fundraiser.
- Their nanny called in sick, and they had to actually spend an afternoon with their child.
- The barista only put 17 pumps of caramel on their $12 “coffee” instead of the usual 21.
OH! THE HORROR!

Ain’t nobody, no-how, no-way know’s what’s what about the stock market, asteroids, how to lower cholesterol, how many boosters you need to fight The Rona (the current over/under from DC/CDC/IRS/FBI/BLM/NFL/CNN is 37…and I’m taking the over), nor especially when their time is up, when your time is up, or when we “will see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory” (v26).
But be thankful for these soothsayers and tea leaf readers.
They let you know who the possessed/ignorant/arrogant/manipulative are, so you can give them a wide berth, which is the only way to...

Endure.
